My name's Lolita Art Madrid: Teresa Moro
December 2005 - MAP magazine C/ Almadén 12
Moving from the sinister world of abstract art into the familiarity of interior design, Galeria My Name’s Lolita Art exhibits Teresa Moro’s “Safari.” Moro’s minimalist, or what many critics call her neo-metaphysical portrayals of contemporary furniture, will have you reading between the lines. Realism becomes surreally realistic giving life to inert objects found in the space between spaces: waiting rooms, lobbies, reception areas—all places to stay while waiting to be somewhere else, Moro calls attention to everyday furniture. A dozen paintings and over 20 drawings of mostly pastels and beiges blend the furniture into the nothingness of surrounding space while tweaking line and contour just enough to bring us in for a closer look. Moro is at the end of a career springboard, as some of her work has just been acquired by the MoMA in New York, and in the “cuarto oscuro” of the gallery this month, you can catch a glimpse of Maria Trenor’s award winning short film “Con que la llevaré” to round out your cartoonish experience.
